The neo-burlesque movement is spreading like wildfire, and we're right there with it, bringing you articles and interviews with the folks involved in keeping the business alive and thriving. Each issue will feature profiles on performers, spotlights on products, coverage of burlesque events, and a tip of the hat to those who are an inspiration to today's performers; the legends of burlesque.

Shimmy is the brainchild of two women who met knocking the crap out of eachother on the roller derby track Along with their love of skating, the two soon discovered they shared an interest in old-time performance. With thier design skills, photo and journalistic abilities, and their determination and drive, the two joined forces to express their appreciation of the art of performance in print. They've already brought on-board such esteemed contributors as photographer Don Spiro, illustrator and performer, little brooklyn, and other special guests from within the burlesque community

During Shimmy's first year, such esteemed performers as Satan's Angel, Miss Indigo Blue, Kitten on the Keys, Michelle "Toots" L'amour, and Erochica Bamboo (to name only a few) graced its pages. Year two holds great promise, as well, with features on Dixie Evans and Kitten DeVille appearing in issue #5, Shimmy's first anniversary issue.
